Any HVAC folks around?

I'm going to start getting some estimates soon but I was curious what a central air install is costing these days.

House is 1500 sq/ft upstairs and 1450 sq/ft down, forced air 3 year old furnace. I know a load test needs to be done and going by sq/ft isn't accurate, but I was hoping to get a guesstimate from someone in the know before I have someone in.

Thanks.

Depends on what type of system that you want.

Windows mound, existing ducting or the house has to be retrofit for new ducting?

Is there easy access/room in the basement/craw space for a mechanical room & duct work?

What region are you in (ambient air temperature in the summer), and how good is your house insulation?

I don?t know what the going cost for parts & labor in your area is like, but here in my area it could cost any where between $5-20K CAD.

Best is to get 3 estimates from your local HVAC services.

Price would start at $1.5-2K for a cheap 2 ton unit (about the size that you need for your home). If your existing duct work is sufficient for tacking on a heat pump with out the need of modification labor cost should be much more than a couple thousand dollars.
