Any horticulturalists in the house?

I have a rather young dwarf Meyer Lemon tree in a pot at my office. Over the summer, it was not doing the greatest. Kind of sparse on leaves, but holding it's own. When the weather started getting colder here in VA, I brought it to my office and sat it by a nice sized window. It started going really well. The leaves got alot more green and overall, the tree started really looking healthy. About a month ago or so, the flowers bloomed and nature did its thing and created little lemons. Well, about a week ago, the tree started not looking so well. The leaves started turning yellow and falling off. The tree has probably lost about 1/3 of the leaves and is starting to resemble the Charlie Brown Christmas tree.

Any idea if this is normal or, if it's not, what I can do to get the tree healthy again?

my guess is that it's either getting too much water (might be someone else in the office trying to be nice and watering it without me knowing) or it has a nitrogen or iron defiency.

the leaves are turning yellow and falling off at a dramatic rate. the veins in the leaves are turning yellow first, then the rest of the leaf.

It is either overwatering or an iron deficiency as you pointed out. I would check the pH of the soil first, and if that checks out, get a moisture indicator that measures at the roots. The pH should be about 6.0-6.5.

supposed to. I've only had the tree for ~6 months. it has little tiny lemons on it now. i guess i'll find out in a few months if i don't kill it first.

also, get different ferts, one for during flower, and one for bloom. In soil the ph should be betwen 6-7, 6.5 is about perfect.

i dug down into the side of the pot and the soil, while not soggy, is pretty damp. i'm going with overwatering by someone who hasn't fessed up to it yet. i transplanted some very dry soil from a jade plant that i can't kill no matter what i do to it and swapped it for some of the wet soil in the lemon pot. hopefully that'll help draw some of the moisture out of it.


anyone know where i can purchase honey badgers online? how many would i need for a 2-3 ft. tall tree? would 1 be enough? maybe i should buy 2. there has been talk of the office wanting a mascot. bechtel badgers .. has a nice ring to it.

Get some Ironite, and make sure you don't over-water, as people have stated above.
