Any Honda Passport / Isuzu Rodeo owners in ATOT land?

As some may have seen, I was rear-ended saturday and my '94 Jimmy is being totaled out.

I've always liked the style of the Passports, and this is what we saw tonight, and will be going back to drive tomorrow:

2001 Honda Passport
It is SUPER clean inside and out. 45k miles on it. Only feature we wanted that it doesn't have is heated seats. But leather, sunroof, low miles, automatic, cd player, and it looks fricken brand new.

They had a carfax on it, but I didn't look at it. contemplating wether or not to dish out the $$ for a carfax 30 day pass....

Blue book on it given the features and my zip is $18480. As you can see, they're asking $16995.

I checked car point, and they pointed out 2 things that go out on it. I spoke with my aunt who's been a service manager at a Honda for as long as I can remember, she said one of the items is covered under a recall and can run the vin for me tomorrow. The only negatives she had to say about it was it rode like a truck (just like my jimmy) and the mileage is bad (just like my jimmy). I don't mind the ride, i'm used to that. And her feedback on the mileage is from her customers, which are all in hawaii. Which is all city driving. For the most part I drive to the park & ride during the week, with some driving on the weekends.

Frankly, I  it inside and out. But, the wife REALLY likes the '01 Volvo V70 we drove today (also very nice, but more $$).

So, anyone have one of these past or present? What was your take on it?

Buy an Isuzu Rodeo - same car, and it's price isn't inflated because of the Honda badge on the front.

I feel bad saying this knowing you love it so much, but I've never been a fan of the Passport, sorry 😱 Might as well buy a Rodeo and own up to driving an Isuzu

I'm aware of them being the same. But I haven't found a Rodeo this clean yet. Guess I'll update my op...

The fact that it's an 01 and still based off of a much older platform... eh, I just can't justify spending so much on a rebadged Isuzu...

Was 01 the last year for them or 02?

'02 was the last year for Honda, and Isuzu put out an '03.

Codey, I also like the styling.

I agree buy an Isuzu Rodeo.

I've checked for same year and price range on the Rodeo. Have yet to find anything as clean, with similar miles. This thing literally looks brand new.

I assume that's a Holden Jackaroo?

If it is, the Toyota Prados are vastly better vehicles, as are mitubishi Pajeros...as far as i can remember from reading more car margazines than was strictly neccessary 😉

Thanks?

I own a 2001 Passsport (bought new) and have had 0 problems with it. Gas mileage is over 20mpg for me. I have the leather seats and they are very comfortable for long drives. It has a 6-cd changer but does not play mp3s. 🙁 I find the ride to be smooth and the acceleration good. The cruise control maintains one of the most constant speeds of any I have ever had.

I really like it, but then I'm an SUV-driving mom so my opinion probably doesn't count for much. 😀

Thanks for the info!

I have a 01 Nissan Pathfinder LE that has every option except the DVD player ( 4WD, leather, heated seats, Nav, etc) and I payed 16K for it a few months ago.....keep looking

Nissan/Toyota/Ford/GM> Isuzu > Mitsubishi

I do like the style of the 1999.5 and newer Pathfinders. But they seem to go for a premium here. I looked at one yesterday (99.5) with all options and over 60k on the clock. It was right around $16500 on the sticker.
