I do the odd bit of brewing here and there. I started in college before I was 21. My roomie and I were both Chem majors, he had a car to go get the supplies and our dorm room had a small kitchen (read: stove and sink). We had a deal worked out with the RD (dorm's resident director) that he wouldn't "notice" our "activities" as long as 6 bottles of each batch were to mysteriously appear at his door.
Just made a batch of spruce beer. Basically an IPA with a small handful of "new" spuce tossed in the boil (by "new", I mean the lighter green new growth on the ends of the branches). It's very good, but generally rates as "that's, um..interesting" by my friends. But hey, that's the joy of homebrew; you can try wacky stuff and you're only out the price of the ingedients and your time.
