Background:
Turned on room lights and there was some minor flickering. Turned on Room Air Conditioner and power goes off in some areas. (See picture.) This has been the setup for years now.

Dilemma:
There is power in certain parts of each room but several outlets and switches don't work. Rest of the house works perfectly fine.

Analysis:

When the (black) hot wire and ground is touched together, tests okay. When the (white) neutral wire and ground is touched together, tests okay. When the hot and neutral is touched together as normal, nada. Hence no power.

Attempted solution:

Reset house circuit breakers. No problems there. Only a specific portion of that circuit breaker also.

Searched for Ground Fault Interrupter but none exists. It's an older house built in the 1970's and none of the outlets have one.

Result:

Praying ATOT has an answer before having to call an electrician.

There is a loose wirenut or a cooked screw in an outlet that acts as a junction for your line, or black wire. This a potentially firestarting problem. If you can figure out how it is daisychained together and find the fault yourself, more power to you. If you are the least bit apprehensive, get a professional.
