I will try to summarize. A few weeks back I opened my tower to add some more RAM and while I had everything open, I decided to spray some canned air in there to clean out some of the mess. I did the usual checking to make sure my screwdriver had grounded the box, so I wouldnt short anything but after replacing manufacturer RAM, with the new pair, my system wouldnt boot. The fans came on, the hard drive light flashed but nothing appeared on the screen and there was a continuous beep sound. I already checked around and found out various beep codes, but this one never stops, until I power the machine down again. I tried putting the original RAM back in as well, still no go.
The original tower is a Gateway GT5032 mediacenter...it runs on a amd athlon 64x2...my whole question is do you think this system can be salvaged or did I burn out the mobo or process somehow? And if I did, would I be better off buying a new Intel process/mobo and reusing the other hardware components? I work for a company that gets deals on computer hardware sometimes, and right now I can get an Intel Qx6850 for $239...just looking for some direction
