Any hardcore people want to do this with me?

Bataan Memorial March

I was thinking of entering the Military, Heavy, category. Meaning I'd be wearing full BDUs, military boots, with a 35lb rucksack. These rules are pretty strictly enforced, according to the website. Doubt I could get anyone I work with to go with me though. :disgust:

The concept of this march is lost on me. You walk wearing BDUs as a "tribute" to people who did the real death march? And if you're a new age yuppy you wear tight Spandex pants and jog as if it's the New York Marathon?

I did two 25 milers while I was in the Marines. We had a time limit of 8 hours for completion to meet the standard. Both were started at midnight to beat the heat. It can be done but it takes a bit of preparation.

I retired from the Marines about 2 1/2 years ago and believe it or not, it's challenges like this that I sorta miss. Completion of something like that hike definitely strokes the male ego. 🙂 My oldest son is into mountain biking so I think I may get started in that with him.

Jeez, and I thought I was better than a lot of the people I meet on the track by running 5 or 6 and still outdoing them when they're on their first lap and I'm on my third mile.

hell no!

I'm much for assault challenges then crazy distances like this.

Your a better man then me for doing this !

QFT. Not to mention the Philippines was America's worst failure in terms of colonialism and military strategy - if you read a history book. Seems like a weird thing to 'honor'. It's like honoring the Bay of Pigs.
