I tried Guinness for the first time last week. I REALLY didn't like it. I guess I'm not a big dark beer fan. It's just a little too bitter for me.

Nothing like a half 'a'yard of black and tan to settle down with after a hard day at work :)

Stout, not beer. :)

I found it to be much better out of the tap in an Irish pub (in Ireland). Drinking Guinness fresh in Ireland ruined it for me when I try the imported Guinness here in the States.

True story. At the beginning of the century they cleaned out the vats at the Guinness factory. They found a lot of dead rats at the bottom of each vat. When they started the brewing processes again after that the stout did not quite taste the same. They had to resort to throwing in pieces of raw meat in each vat to recreate the classic Guinness Stout flavor. They still do it to this day.

This song is based on that legend.

About 6 months ago they had a promotion for a free bottle opener keychain.

Well, like the beer the free keychain was great, worth about 5 bucks!

At home I drink Pilsners and Ales, but when I go out I drink Stout and there's few better than Guinness.

Very cold from the tap for me. ;)

bass and harp

my preference is harp over guinness

Harp = Irish Budweiser.

Now if you were talking Belhaven Wee Heavy, or McEwan's Scotch Ale, then you might be onto something.

Sure. But stouts are stout. I should have been more clear. When I said I have ale at home, I meant the lighter ales like altbier, lager or bock and not stout or porters.

Guinness = very good.

Seems that the best pint of Guinness I've yet consumed was in Ireland.

May just go pickup a four pack later today.

Actually, I prefer the new draught they have in a bottle. It's considerably better than the stuff in the can IMHO.
