so google bought keyhole yesterday. pretty amazing aerial imagery maps.. 3D stuff.. & in most cities a resolution of less than 1 meter. Wondering how google will use KeyHole. Most likely with its local search. Any other ways google can/might integrate this cool stuff?

Maybe a mapquest type of locator with actual imagery rather than city maps?

edit: oh you already listed that heh. I bet they could superimpose a locator map on top of them, scaled correctly.

wondering how cool it would be if cameras can have a gps device & along with date, it also records the latitude/longitude. And when u upload the pictures to picasso (someday they might have a site where u can upload pictures), they will show u exactly where the picture was taken.. the building/beach/mountain or wherever in 3D. fond memories wud come to life.

Google will eventually dominate the map search like that of mapquest, mapblast, etc. It's just a matter of time.

well.. yeah maybe.. but mapquest, mapblast have their own uses/charm.. driving directions and stuff are well evolved & keyhole doesn't necessarily shine when it comes to finding directions.. does it?

Check out wwmx.org, sample page.

No sat pictures, but there are other programs that will do that.

Hopefully it will have at least something like terraserver, but with worldwide data.

nice stuff.. the next step would be to take it a step further & make it automatic, painless & appealing to general users.

It looks like it uses the images from terraserver..... I checked both and they are identical between the Keyhole and terraserver

But it would be nice to have some Canadian data, like Terraserver had when it first started.

I'm thinking Google will make it have both maps like mapquest, as well as all the features that keyhole can offer.

Images on Terraserver are public domain (you can use them freely as long as you display "Courtesy of the USGS" near/on the image).

what I would LOVE is a map service which looked like this :)

edit for typo
