This sounds like that Toshiba laptop scam that we had in the beginning of the year. Prices of laptops cannot be 1/2 of retail.

How does one become a member or show proof of being a student over the 'net? I will have a valid school ID at the time the order is placed, but its kind of hard showing it... it doesnt quite fit in my floppy drive...

You know the saying "If it seems too good to be true, it probably isn't"? Well it applies here. Do a search of the usenet discussion on deja.com from this company. There are plenty of complaints. To give you a sense of the type of company you are dealing with, the "ceo" actually posted replies defending the company from a deja email account. If you get burned don't complain as you have been warned.

Well, I know not for this student store but they have MNP international store on yahoo shopping selling basically same thing but priced 10-15% higher.
