The KOTOR series are the only Star Wars RPGs currently available, and LucasArts has not made an announcement of any expansions to the series.

Most of the Star Wars RTS games are crap, but some people like Empires at War.

For FPS, the Jedi Knight series is outstanding, although I didn't particularly care for Jedi Academy...but Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast is the pinnacle of the series in my opinion.

Of course there is always the old X-Wing and Tie Fighter series...both amazing.

KOTOR uses the engine from Neverwinter Nights.

You might like Neverwinter Nights 2 though the crafting system isn't as good as in KOTO 2, and neither is the story.

Mass Effect is supposed to be out for the XBox 360 by xmas, it's a SF RPG from Bioware (who didi KOTOR 1).

Otherwise, for an RPG you could try the Star Wars Gaaxies MMO. See the 2 threads on it here, opinions are mixed and I haven't tried it myself.

What do you mean by engine?
If you mean graphics engine then thats not entirely accurate. KotoR used the quake 3 engine and NWN 1 and 2 did not.
If you mean the game system then, yes.

Knights of the Old Republic 2 is the only fix for a fan of the first game, and its like getting a product thats been stepped on.
The mechanics are much better, the interface scales with the resolution, so when you play at 1600x1200 the icons and menues dont shrink to tiny, little boxes.
There are a buttload more items, feats, powers, and the ability to hit higher levels means you can use them. They also got rid of some useless or unimpressive feats.

BUT, the game itself is lacking. Characters are not fleshed out very well, the main quest and some side quests are broken in places, (some of which may actually stop your progress in the game), and the ending is not even really complete, which leaves you with a hallow feeling when you beat it.
Assuming you've already played it, the answer to your question is: No, nothing.
They were special games and Lucas Arts saw fit to make a MMORPG instead of another KOTOR.

We are all waiting patiently, and you can even dig around the web and sign some petitions if you like.

Everything I've read says KOTOR uses Bioware's Odyssey 3D engine which was based on Bioware's Aurora engine for Neverwinter Nights, though it may itself be based on Quake 3 code.

The game system for all of the games is based on flavors of d20 / Dungeons & Dragons.

Sorry bud... you are wrong. KOTOR 1 used an engine based of the Never Winter Nights engine. Jedi Academy and Jedi Outast were based of the Quake 3 engine.

You don't mix technologies like that Odyssey which is no where close to being based off of Quake 3. FYI Odyssey still has bugs reported to LA that Bioware has fixed for NWN like people not being able to play on some Flatpanel monitors.

unfortunately there aren't any

of course, for the most part, star wars started to go down hill with the dawn of the new trilogy and most of the stuff that was pumped out since then seemed to assume it would make money based off of its title more so than its actual content - of course there were few exceptions such as the KOTOR games but it wasn't like back in the day when just about any Star Wars game that came out was pretty much instant gold (loved the XWing/TIE Fighter games, Shadows of the Empire for the n64 and the Jedi Knight games of course (and I agree that Jedi Academy was a let down)

Although KOTOR is really rare for what it did. Not only was it a great game, its story was amazing, heck I think its story was better than any of the other Star Wars movies or expanded universe and the twist is even better than the one in Empire Strikes Back.

I've always like Rogue Squadron. A nice flying game that is totally land based (i.e. no space battles). Using the tow cables is a pain but the rest is pretty cool.

If you liked KOTOR, you will probably like Jade Empire. Rather than Jedi, it has ninjas. Which are basically the same thing. You won't miss your lightsaber too much when you have claws attached to your hands and you're transforming into a giant toad demon.

they were entertaining, but for those of us spoiled by games such as TIE Fighter it felt like a downgrade despite the ever increasing graphical goodness

another game I just remembered is the pod racer game and it was actually amazingly fun, but that really didn't have much to do with Star Wars when you really think about it, it might as well be just any other future antigrav racing game (ie wipeout or fzero)

Kotor 1 and 2 both used modified versions of NWN1's Aurora engine. Neither of them used the Q3 engine in any way.

NWN Bioware FAQ

"Neverwinter Nights uses the BioWare Aurora Engine. Aurora was developed specifically for Neverwinter Nights. Aurora is a fully 3D engine with tons of amazing features, including resolution independence, a powerful particle system, dynamic lighting, and an open-ended modular design. The animation system supports a huge number of character moves and takes advantage of the ability to smoothly interpolate between them. Using the BioWare Aurora Engine has allowed us to create an amazingly rich world, populated with impressively detailed creatures and environments."

KOTOR uses a version of Aurora called Odyssey, KOTOR 2 used the same engine, with some modifications.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Odyssey_engine

NWN2 also uses a similar engine to NWN1, however it has no OGL renderer and have been renamed the Electron engine. It also boasts a number of other modifications, and issues.

Didn't I correct you on this in another thread a while back? Stop spreading false data. :p

Republic Commando was fun. Great teamplay and variety.

Extremely short and relatively easy even on Hard Mode.

Well worth a play

There's a community movement to fill in the missing components / bugs, but I haven't seen any updates in a long time. The game shipped with much of the content omited.

Yep. It's an FPS, but it's well done.

I recommend Republic Commando, it was the best Star Wars FPS in my opinion (and I loved Jedi Knight/Outcast/Academy)
