any good reviews of XP media center edition yet?

Nobody's reviewing it because the only proper way to get it is by buying a new PC with it pre-installed.

It's just WinXP with some extra software, and requiring certain hardware.

I know that, but I'd like to find out where they get the remote that comes with it sounds like it's nice. I was also wondering how does it schedule TV recording, is there anythign like season pass?

The remote is a custom OEM job and not available at retail. It's the same for the TV tuner card-XP MCE only supports 1 hardware capture card, and it's not available at retail. Basically, they're forcing you to buy a pre-built system if you really want the software.

Sounds like most people are better off with Tivo or an ATI all-in-wonder. Or wait for Xbox2 since the long-range MS plan is to make Xbox a media center / paid content delivery system with strong DRM.

You should be able to find a leaked version on kazaa/newsgroups. I just did a search on my school's directconnect hub and found it.
