Any good recent 8x vs 16x PCI-e benchmarks?

A lot of these x8 vs x16 benchmarks seem to be MIA (I did find some, but they were almost 2 years old). Not only do video cards process a lot more bandwidth these days, but its still VERY common for people to run a video card in 8x mode because of P55 chipset.

Any good benchmarks?

There isnt enough data moving around to saturate the x8 bus yet. x16 is completely not necessary, even in SLI/Xfire.

ditto, it's not necessary but there will be a little improvements here and there. Not like the difference between unplayable and playable though

If you look at the benchmarks from HACP, even that isnt true, performance is identical in every title they tested.

From testing my system with my cards at x16/x16 vs x16/x8, I lose about 3fps.

Minimal difference. It's not a big deal to throw a card in the x8 slot.

In the HARD review, they used a pci-express 2.0 motherboard. That means the cards that were 8x in 2.0 run at the same speed as 16x in 1.0.

This didn't dispel all that much when you look at it like that.

OP asks about 8x on a P55 motherboard, so HardOCP benchs with PCIe 2.0 should give a good enough idea.
