Any good places online to get an auto loan?

Ameesh

Hi guys,

I am hoping you guys might know of a place to get an auto loan online, i'd like them to have a good website on which i can do online payments, have a good rate for a new car 60/72 month loan and no penalty for early pay off. I have fairly good credit (last time I checked my fico was 755 which was several months ago so it should be close to that)

Capital One used to have great rates but not anymore. Any other places i can look, that dont have too much of a hassle to setup an account?

COAF's lowest rates right now are 3.75%. It doesn't get a lot lower than that. I don't think even credit unions offer anything lower. You might have to go through the dealer for a lower rate.

Local credit union you would be surprised how many of them have online banking and accept ACH payments.

Our car loan is through a SMALL PODUNK 1 branch CU in downtown Portland. I qualify just because I work on the west side.

Although they're a small 1 branch CU they have a web site where I can login check my account details and even make payments!

Al Gore invented teh intarweb!!!!

why not check with whatever manufacturer you are purhcasing from ?

I got like 2.9% with Lexus/Toyota when I purchased my vehicle.
Tier 1 Credit 🙂 😀

Capital One's rates right now are as low as 3.75% for a 3 year loan. I have a loan thru them (when it used to be peoplefirst) and they automatically deduct from your checking every month on a date you choose. They have a pretty good back end where you can check your loan status and get most info. You cannot make extra payments online, you have to mail in your extra payments if you want to pay off early. I would probably use them again. It's a pretty cool process. You fill out the form online, in around 5 minutes they call you to confirm that it was actually you, then the next day you get a blank check in the mail.

Then I must have tier 4 credit 😉

American Honda Finance offered me either 8.5 or 10.5 I can't remember. I made 12 on time payments then re-fi'd with a local CU at 4.50% and said FSCK YOU to AHFC 🙂

If we're talking online lenders, then I believe that http://eloan.com/ and http://www.capitaloneautofinance.com (which use to be PeopleFirst) are the two big contenders for auto loans.

I applied for a loan through Capital One after reading up on the Financing Discussions at the Edmunds car forums. I was approved for the loan within a day, and was able to walk in to my dealership with a pre-approved 3.99% financing. It was the first time I'd ever applied for a non-school loan.

The dealership beat the Capital One rate, so I tore up the Capital One paperwork and it was over with. I dunno if having my own financing got me a better rate at the dealership, but I was happy to have it in hand.

<--- 1.9% APR 🙂 My local CU denied me when I applied, and COAF offered me somewhere around a 5.25% (their lowest back in September 03) - I only qualified for that b/c I worked there.

You may bite and nibble RagingBITCH :brokenheart: while I film it.

I've had two loans through PeopleFirst and had good experince with both. Not sure how they compare on rates right now.
