Planning on blowing a lot of money this season on new gear, I was hoping for a % off coupon. Where do you avid snowboarders get your stuff? Last time I bought my burton at a local snow shop, unfortunately there aren't any shops anywhere around here, probably a 2 hr drive to the nearest one.

The best deal I've found is at REI, the whole setup (boots/bindings/board) is around $950, then $750 after a 10% off for buying a snow package, and 10% dividend payback at the end of the year for being a member.

Can't wait to flex my Northstar season pass this weekend!

That's damn expenisive!!! :Q
Unless you're going for uber gear.

Try to find out if there are any local snowboard conventions going on. Thats where I got min. You can haggle and bring the price down always.

i just came back from one, it's supposed to be one of the biggest ones in california. lots of demo gear, mostly last season/used stuff, almost nothing from this year. i was pretty dissapointed, drove 2 hrs. my roomates got some sick deals on skis, but they just wanted used stuff.

i'm going for a a Ride Timeless 152, Ride SPI bindings, and Salomon Dialogue or Synapse boots. I had last year's Dialogues but they were a little too big for me so I sold them and getting some smaller sized ones.

I was gonna suggest REI...it's the only place I know around here that sells gear besides the specialty shops on the mountains, but they have no websites.

The Timeless is pretty great too. I'm using that as part of my main freeride setup. And the SPIs are good too I hear although when I was talking to a Copelands manager yesterday he was complaining that they had too much response and that the Burton Missions were the best traditional bindings still. Heh - another Burton praiser...

the 2003 timeless fixed some of the stiffness problems that the previous two years had and brought back the snap of the original which people liked

can't wait to try it out this weekend

how do you have too much response? to me that's like saying my car has too much horsepower

are you looking for another burton board?
i'm not trying to tell you not to if you like them, but all the people i know that have one have had problems with it. i got a Head Ignition board this year, i'm looking at ride bindings. don't know what kind of boots yet. if anyone has any recommendations for boots it'd be greatly apreciated. but let's see board 200 ($400 w/ out discount :D) bindings $250, boots i'll prolly blow 200 on, goggles and gloves another 200, i'll use my old coat/helmet and pants.

can't go wrong with the salomon boots, the dialogue/synapse/malamute are pretty much the equiv of each other, getting progressively stiffer to the malamute which retails for $300. the dialogues run $220 and the synapse is about $20 more than that.

the dialogues are the only boots i've ever trusted, i'll be riding northstar tomorrow with the dialogues myself

i got the 2003 timeless, 2003 ride spi, and the 2003 dialogue

i owned a pair of the 2002 dialogues, loved em. there's a reason i'm going with the 2003 without even considering anything else

sold them to a friend. i had a size 8.5, went to a size 8 when i got the 2003s, i was thinking of dropping to a 7.5 since i like them blood-flow-shortage tight. i'll probably just get some thicker socks though

My 2002 setup:
Burton Motion 152
Burton Custom Bindings
Salomon Dialogue sz. 8.5

My 2003 setup (after selling my 2002):
Ride Timeless 152
Ride SPi Bindings
Salomon Dialogue sz. 8.0

I would have kept mine but my friend needed a board and the setup was perfect for him, plus I felt I'd outgrown the burton and wanted something a little nicer. The timeless setup is perfect

Northwave makes good boots as well. I've heard that the Salomon Dialogues are probably the most comfy you'll get out of a snowboard boot but they tend to wear out fairly quickly.
