Just wondering if theres any side scrollers out there that use today's hardware to render great looking graphics but still have the old side scroller feel to them?

There's only some version of duke nukem I know of, that has been released like a year ago, that has a side scroller feel to it. Doesn't look great but doesn't look like utter crap either. On gamershell there's a demo to be found.

If Side scrolling is what your after try some of the good ol oldies on an emulator with a decent controller. Sooo much fun! If you find anything new that has solid gameplay with some eye candy to boot give us a review ^^

If you have UT2004, you can play Province of Demons, a free 3D sidescroller mod made a few years ago.

I don't think we'll ever see a commercial side scroller on the PC again, probably nothing outside of flash games and indies. The PS3 is getting Little Big Planet though, looks like a lot of fun.

Duke Nuken Manhatten Project - on CD somewhere if you look for it.
Jets'n'Guns - downloaded from the web.

Cool, I'll have to look into those. I am waxing nostalgic and want a little side scroller action, but also want it to look better than 8-bit graphics. :)

1941 on a mame setup is the best I ever played for side scroller, although its technically a vertical scroller :)

This is by no means a new game, and I have no idea if it will run on XP, but have you ever looked up a game called Abuse?

Single handedly the most adrenaline packed side-scroller I've ever played.
