If you haven't already seen either No Country for Old Men or There Will be Blood then I can highly recommend those if you can find a theatre still playing them. Aside from those I don't have any personal experience with any of the films now playing. I have a high recommendation from a family member for The Counterfeiters (German movie).

Pick something in the high 80s to 90s if you`re really stuck and you probably won`t go wrong.

How about that Naomi Watts movie - Funny Games? It's received some really mixed reviews - some are calling it dark, grim and intense; others are calling it twisted, exploitative and manipulative. I like the actress and she generally does good work so I would watch it just for her.

Recently saw '4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days'. It's a Romanian movie that won the Palme D'Or last year. Got rave reviews everywhere and I was expecting something truly epic and brilliant. I won't say it's bad but not as good as I expected. It doesn't really have an intro or an ending - just a lot of the middle, if that makes any sense. Just a really hectic & grim day (~12 hours) in the life of a young college girl helping her friend get an illegal abortion in mid-80s Romania. Give it a shot if you like artsy European movies.

Be Kind Rewind looked funny but I haven't seen it myself.

The Bank Job was good, but don't expect the type of action Jason Stratham is usually known for, it's more of a story and dialogue based movie.

If you guys like horror, Shutter starts tomorrow. Looks kinda low budget though, so I'm not sure how good it'll be.

I rented that. I was particuarly displeased by the pointless death scene at the end. You will understand soon enough. And then the ending following that scene was weak and felt like they spent all the cgi budget up to there, and had to stop the movie short.

I just hope 30 Days Of Night is better overall. We will see...

The Night Watch and Day Watch movies were pretty off the wall, if you dig foreign films.
