the relent bashing of two of the premiere gaming peripheral companies by the OP makes me think this is just a troll post.

if you are unwilling to buy logitech, razer, MS, and steelseries, you should try and find some old ass IBM era PS/2 stuff and call it a day man.(semi serious but mostly joking)

the RAT is nice from what I read but Cyborg isnt exactly a huge name in the business, although its gettings there.
I see. So when a company screws us, we should have no recourse. We may not relate our experiences. All dissent must be quashed.

Know who else thought that way? Kim Jong Il.

Thanks fo the ps2 suggestion, Comrade, but as I already said I'm snagging the Rat 7. It's on the way now.

I'm going to go ahead and snag the Cyborg Rat-7. It seems like exactly what I wanted - an item that costs a bit more because it's built a bit better.

How do you know it is built better? Sure, it has a metal core, but somehow I don't think that the mice you've had problems with have physically broken apart. Guess you'll know in a couple months, or a year or two.

Personally I wouldn't use that Rat-7. Looks too "fiddly" to me. I like 'em simple. Give me the two buttons, scroll wheel and maybe a thumb button or two. I don't need other adjustments, a dozen buttons or configurable weights. I also would rather not have to install software - I prefer to be able to just plug in the mouse and have it work more or less properly. Example of mouse I didn't like for that reason were the Razer Diamondback and Copperhead mice I've had, which without their software installed would be in super high resolution mode - useless for me in FPS games.

I see. So when a company screws us, we should have no recourse. We may not relate our experiences. All dissent must be quashed.

No. However, one person's bad experiences does not make a "crap product." Just as you should be able to talk about your bad experiences, others should be able to talk about their good experiences.

Zap, I didn't attempt to stop anyone from relating their good experiences. I think you may be going a bit overboard, as is the norm for mods here.

~~~
The R.A.T. 7 is the best mouse I've ever owned. It feels even more well put together than my original diamondback. The minute I set my hand on the Dback 3g I thought "wtf, flimsy!" and I couldn't have been more right. I seem to have a sixth sense for these things. So while only time will tell about its durability, I think I've got a winner here. Thanks for the help guys!
We have a rule against "moderator callouts." This means you should not say anything such as "because you are a moderator."
Moderators are people too! I am posting as a normal member, just like any moderator. Being a moderator has NOTHING to do with my posting here. In fact I can and have gotten in trouble from other moderators with my posts.
If you have a problem with my posts, feel free to use the "report post" function of the forums to complain about me as a user or my posts. However, moderator callouts can and will earn infractions.
Yeah, the Diamondbacks do seem a bit flimsy. Perhaps it was quite telling that refurbished ones were quite common a few years ago.
My Diamondback lasted 4 years. It still kind of works, just the cable is flaky. I could probably fix it.
It's been a while since I posted here, I lost interest a while back due to the rampant racism here by posters and the fact the moderators then did nothing about it. So I apologize if I'm unfamiliar with current rules.
In the past, the moderators here were very heavy-handed and abusive of their power, so that's why I feel the way I do, and continue to feel very intimidated having you reply to me.
