Any Good Games Out?

I find that the UT2k4 mods Alien Swarm and Frag.Ops are pretty fun, but they're starting to get old. So, a few new games are wanted.

Preferences:

No deathmatch only type games (quake, UT, etc), got plenty of those already.
Tactical (squad-based?) shooters preferred.
RPGs are fine.
RTS. I haven't found a good one in a long while, but enjoy them.
No sports.
Multiplayer is a strong point, decent single player will be appreciated though. :)
Game must be available and for sale now or very soon.

PC only, no consoles.

Suggestions?

I realize this is likely the wrong forum, but you guys are over over 6 times busier than that software forum :p

Having played the demo, it looks pretty, but the gameplay kinda sucked. (Doom³ that is)

Rome: Total War is a nice game, i'm not sure what genre of games it is though (the same genre as Command and Conquer, where you click on a bunch of people and send them out to do stuff)

Rome Total War, Warhammer 40K have been getting good remarks around here. Check out the Software/Games forum for detailed info.

Why don't they release a MMORPG with charactor controls similar to that of Severance, sub-quests similar to that of Morrowind and a story line matching the Diablo Series.

The Diablo storyline wasn't much. Just the basic backdrop for the game. Morrowind had a very interesting storyline, along with tons of books/scrolls & npcs to help tell it.

Is it only me or that games nowadays are getting so dull, overhyped and overrated that they just don't feel fun anymore?

Warhammer 40k single player was no challenge at all. I think there was ONCE through the whole thing that I got overrun and had to reload a saved game. Unless you're gonna play multi-player, I'd say its not worth the money. It was fun, but never became that challenging.

Have you tried the single player mods for UT2k4 called Damnation and Eden Eclipse. They're fun and best of all, they're free.

I agree. The only fun game I've come across lately is GTA:SA, and that's not a PC game for 5 months at least - and I've tried EVERYTHING.

Halo 2 is so overhyped that half the sophmore class at my school (Immature little kids) is skipping to go buy it - and the school is preparing their senior skip day arsenal to deal with the situation. Games these days are like professional wrestling - lots of hype, lots of showmanship, and then THE SAME DAMN THING OVER AND OVER - men slapfighting in spandex underwear.
