Okay, I've looked around and have not found what I'm looking for. I just want some space that I can have access to from an ftp client. My comcast space is great, but is already filled up. My free yahoo space is good, but cant access from an ftp client. I have to use their stupid slow tool.

Anybody know of any good ftp hosts that will store... like anything? Not just pics, lots of stuff.

Pretty much any webhost. Or, if you've got an easy router to open ports, you can set up a personal FTP server from there.

gmail doesnt offer it, which sucks. I guess i could look at netscape. I don't have a router. I'm directly connected to another computer which is connected to the net. Unless I could set it up with my gateway somehow.

I don't understand... your connection is coming through another computer?

Are you a home user, on-campus user, or what? Trying to figure out if I have the right idea in mind from what you just said.

I think he's just looking for webspace that's accessible via FTP. I haven't used a free webhost in almost 5 years so I don't know who's good anymore.

I understand that, but what I don't understand is his setup. It'd be much easier and cheaper to set up a personal FTP server.

I would look at http://www.gottadeal.com and go the webhosting forum. If nothing else, purchase some cheap space and just use it for an FTP server. You'll get good transfer rates and lots of space.

That looks good. But, can I directly access it from a browser? I'd like to put some website stuff here and access it from my other space.

As far as my current setup goes... it's just a gateway. It's like this:

{modem}-----{1st PC}------{2nd PC}

The cable modem is hooked up to the 1st PC (family), and then it shares the net connection over the lan to the 2nd PC (me). Hope this clears up some stuff.

Oh, I guess I never realized you could do that. Didn't realize that some ethernet cards an an 'OUT' *shrug*

Well in that case, I don't know. If you're good enough with networking I'm sure you can set up the FTP through the first computer and subsequently it'll be possible for you to use it for your's. I'm still a noob at this kinda stuff and don't know how to do it for even myself.
