Any good "free" webcam software?

Logitech's "spotlife" sucks, I hate not having a choice. I found one that is really good, but at least in Win2k it has a memory leak, after only 30 minutes it's in upwards of 30MB of memory used (starts out at like 5MB). I'm just looking for one that will allow me to pick the interval time of uploading, allow me to specifiy where to upload to, and doesn't have a memory leak :)

I checked out CNET, but the ones that looked promising also had a memory leak issue in Win2k.

TIA

I use one called ChillCam under Win2k and it's pretty decent... No noticable memory leaks (haven't rebooted in a few days at least, and it's currently using 3.3 megs). Allows for different methods of uploading, configurable intervals, adding of messages/time stamps to images, etc. It's nagware, so if you don't register it pops up a thing saying how cool it would be if you registered every so often. Kind annoying since it does it even when nothing's going on with the PC, and disables your screensaver. I've come home several times to find that my screen's been on for an unknown number of hours on the same screen...

Guess it's time to register. ^_^

What I really need/want is software that runs as a service so I can hook a webcam directly up to my webserver without leaving it logged in all the time... Anyone know of something like that?

You can also try Vidiosuite over at teveo.com. It's so far the best streaming video quality I've ever seen. And no more than 5-sec. delay time too.

I'll check that one out too. Can you just set it to upload images like regular webcam software? I like chillcam, but it won't upload to some places I try. A program called "simplecam" will upload to the ones that chillcam won't, must be a problem with Chillcam. Too bad, I really like it. I also can't use simplecam because it has a memory leak in win2k.

I have yet to find a piece of software that doesn't suck for webcams. I'm even willing to pay at this point.

Any other opinions? Anyone have the problem with Chillcam no uploading to a server? It tells me I don't have "write permissions", even though I set all permissions to 777. Other software has no problem writing to the same account.

TIA
