any good free programs for laptop

I just bought Compaq Presario 1255 laptop for internet and email use. It has 160MB memory (can't upgrade more memory at all). So what free programs do you use on your laptop with limited memory and old cpu (I have speedy AMD K6-2 333)?

I used some programs that is not memory resource hog
Sysgate Personal firewall
Anti-Vir Personal Edition
Firefox browser (I prefer IE6 but it crashes all the times)
MS Word 2000
Adobe Reader 5.1
Adware 6.0 SE

What I am looking for is good graphic such as GIMP (is it good?) and all in one chat messenger (don't like Miranda even it has low memory hog). Anything you can recommand for this speedy laptop. I use wireless and wired LAN just in case you ask. 🙂

I have tried that one before and didn't like it. I have 4 AIM accounts so Trillian allows multi accounts on AIM Gaim and Miranda does not.
