I'm building my DVD collection.
Is there any good film out there for keep?
Old and news. Kungfu, comedy, or action only. :D

Matrix is a keeper.
I like Amazon Women on the Moon (sort of a cult classic among my high school)

Get The Crow. The DVD is nothing special, the only added feature is a french audio track, but the movie kicks ass.

Anybody see a pattern here?

If you want suggestions look on my site :)

Viper, didn't they recently release an SE version of The Crow?

DefRef, well it is one of the best DVDs out there. Lots of features, probably one of the best soundtracks in terms of quality, and also very cheap.

Kami...

I dunno, I'm off to look now.

Anybody know if there's any difference between the Matrix & the Matrix Collector's Edition? I'm going to end up with both...

Why does everyone slam Gladiator? It did win the academy award for best picture, and made a boatload of money also. I thought it was well-done for the genre. Anyway, it really depends on what movies you like. My very first laserdisc was Blade Runner, so I am kind of partial to that movie. Close Encounters of the Third Kind is coming out soon and it should be good also....

T2 Ultimate Edition
The Fifth Element
The Abyss Special Edition
Jurassic Park/Lost World
Fight Club

There are lots of good dvds out now.....

Viper, here's the new one...it's actually Collector's Series, not SE. Crow Collector's Series.

As for Matrix, there is only one version. There are other box sets that include lobby cards and other stuff, but it's still the same DVD AFAIK.

as for me and DVDs, I'm taking a break from buying them. I buy too many. My collection was 1/3 of what it is now less than a month ago.

<< Why does everyone slam Gladiator? >>

Because it blew goats.

Lots of cool features for a lousy movie are worthless. Much better are things like the T2:UE or MIB:LE.

Gladiator was a pretty cool movie, The extra's were nothing spectacular.

My Must own List

Saving Private RYAN
Mallrats (Tons of extras)
Abyss (one of the greatest movies ever)
TOY STORY ULTIMATE BOX SET (two cool movies, cool features and the bonus disc rocks!)

Had a player about a year now and Really never got the full effect until I got the Reciever. Next purchase BIG HONKIN' TV

I'll second Seven, Fight Club, T2: UE, and Toy Story 1/2.

Ghostbusters is a great disc...lots of cool stuff on there (and a cool movie!). Don't forget Braveheart.

and Almost Famous....GREAT flick.

There's also a newly released version of Men In Black (collector's series) I got for only $19 Canadian (really cheap $US) and it has pretty much everything from the expensive Limited Edition...tons of stuff!

i dont know.. i owned matrix since it came out but the more i watch it the less i like it.. right now if u dont have any DVD, my top choice is Blade Runner , i dont like new movies too much, they have shallow story line and tries to spoon feed the audience with it.

Here are some of them that comes to my mind.
Heat, Professional, Amadeus (great music), Fight Club

If you can find it, I recommend the End of Evangelion DVD movie as well as the DVD vol. 1-4 of the released episodes (1-14, 15-26 remaining).

I have the entire series on VCD, and I love it! (waiting for a DVD set to come out)

The Cell is worth owning IMHO

The End of Eva is a great movie, and the TV series isn't to bad. I think I have seen it to many times though.
