I never read that but I remember when the first book was released. They were actually giving away free copies of the first book. I have like 5 copies that I got that day that I was planning to give as gifts.

Wheel of time if you have time and want a GOOD and dreadfully long adventure story.

If you want something short and extremely fun then try any of the Discworld novels by Terry Pratchett

Oh yes. Much of my youth was spent with those books, I can't believe they're almost 20 years old.

The bible is fantasy filled but most versions don't have any good pictures :p

why even say that? you know it's flamebait.

You can't argue that it doesn't have a lot of the aspects of a Fantasy book. Just because some people believe more into than others doesn't mean it was a flamebait post.

Raymond Feist books are probably some of the best. Not too long and the guy is really an amazing writer. Funny to think he was working in college dorm when he first started writing :)

I just started re-reading them now.

Definitely look into the wheel of time as others have recommended. My favorite fantasy series.

Thats why its listed first. Martin's books are "I can't put the damn thing down!" good. Haydon's are a very enjoyable read.

And still are! I just read em a few months ago. I'm not a fantasy fan, but the writing and symbolism in the Narnia series is absolutely incredible.

i think this is fantasy (vs sci-fi) , either way, it is a great series

The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, The Unbeliever

Thomas Covenant is an author who has contracted leprosy. He has been abandoned by his family and shunned by society. One day he appears to have a car accident and is magically transported to The Land. The Land is a world full of health and people dedicated to the preservation of life and The Land. Covenant is convinced The Land is a dream after he is treated with a mysterious substance called "hurtloam" and his damaged nerves begin to heal. He refuses to believe in The Land thinking he is dreaming and dubs himself the Unbeliever.

the Wheel of Time is incredible, but it sometimes gets frustrating since it is taking so long. i got the first book when it came out 13 years ago. i've gotten to where i re-read the whole series in between each release. obviously i love the stuff. the Death Gate Cycle by Weiss and Hickman is another one of my favorites.

What's incredible about it?? i thought it was simplistic, obvious and a bit overbearing.

if he wanted to do the story of the bible that obviously why didn't he just say it was going to be the bible paraphrased.

Dark Tower Series by Stephen King. one of his best. not typical of him tho. more fantasy and no horror / suspense
