Any good deals on web hosting before I buy one tommorow morning

What kind of site do you plan to run? If it's just images, e-rice.net has the static plans which are great deals for the price.

dreamhost's 1 year for only $10 deal seems to blow the other deals out of the water.. read the dreamhost thread...

A lot of people seem to like hostpc.com

Budget Hosting - $25/year

* 300MB disk space
* 3000MB data transfer/month
* 25 POP3/IMAP Mail Accounts
* 3 Add On Domains

If you need Windows hosting then I would only suggest 1and1.com. They are a German telecom company that is one of the largest used hosting companies in the world. They have partnerships with Microsoft on their Windows hosting. GL. Please let us know who you end up with. I have been searching and am about to sign up with 1and1.com. Thanks. Take care.

HostPC suxorz....
My friends website was compromised because of their lax server security.
HostPC answer, you are no longer a customer.
Better hosting can be found elsewhere.

I signed up with them a few months back and am very happy so far. They respond to emails very quickly too. And I really like DirectAdmin. Very easy to use.

they may be big, and they may be cheap, but their interface sucks, customer support is incredibly lacking, and my email is constantly down. I'm looking to switch.

I have had several sites for a year now on HostPC and although they have had some problems they have always been very quick to respond and always in a positive fashion. They do have some strict rules as to what may not be hosted (ie: porn). They had some problems in their Atlanta datacenter but since their move to Florida things seem to have smoothed out. Easy to use control panel. I am considering moving more of my sites to these folks as the rates are very reasonable, up-time (for me) is good, and I have always had quick, courteous, and useful interactions with the staff. I can't comment on their server security but to my knowledge nothing I have there has ever been compromised.

HostPC all the way. Dirt cheap (15/yr plan on special), plus I got two hour response on a SUNDAY for a support ticket I trumped up, PLUS through DirectAdmin they have delivered me from the evil that is cPanel. :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Dreamhost is excellent if you need 120gb/month bandwidth and 2.4gb storage for about $120 / year ($10/month), but if you need much less than that then there are cheaper alternatives. Compared to 1and1, I feel more in control with dreamhost - being able to specify my own usernames is a big plus. Also, dreamhost upgrades their plan features about twice a year. They've also dropped bandwidth overage fees down to $1 per gb extra per month, so if you go over a little it won't break the bank.
