Interesting question; start any "recommend me some music" thread here and you'll get recommended a rather large selection of unknown music. Perhaps the RIAA "doesn't get it", but many, many people like music that simply isn't popular. The RIAA would much rather make money by pandering to the lowest common denominator, rather than finding ways of promoting good music and getting it to people who would love to purchase and own it.

Yeah, I know, I expected such typical remarks. But if I hear something I like, then I want to find out who it is (cause God knows 99% of DJs suck and never tell you wtf it is they're playing)...

Here's a great site. It's the Radio and Records website that has top 40 rock, pop, coutry, etc.
It also has playlists from a lot of the stations around the country....
