Any good car game for the X360?

Nothing worse in a car game than cheating AI, the type that is in the same car as you, driving as well, and yet it gets in a major crash and somehow catches up 15 seconds later, or if you drive poorly or superbly is always just behind you. Apparently MC does this, according to IGN, and it's a terrible trait in a game. I never noticed it with Gran Tourismo 3 and it's a key reason that game was awesome.

Anyhoo, what's a good one for 360? I played wipeout years ago and it was horrifically terrible, just no realism to it at all!

Games I've played with no rubberband AI

Forza 2
PGR4
Test Drive Unlimited

Burnout Paradise kind of has rubberband AI but it is so ridiculously over the top that it is a given.

Burnout Paradise (arcade)
Test Drive Unlimited (mixture of arcade and simulation)
Forza 2 (simulation)
PGR4 (mixture of arcade and simulation)

I've put a lot of hours into Burnout Paradise and Test Drive Unlimited. TDU is an older game, but still worth a look. There are a bunch of people here who play Forza 2 regularly; you've probably seen the Forza 2 thread.

Forza Motorsport 2, if you like "realism" definitely give it a whirl!!

PGR 4 is a little more arcadey.

If you don't like the "cheating" AI then steer clear of Burnout Paradise.

Forza 2 is basically Gran Turismo for the Xbox. But it still has shady AI at times. There's always one car in the race with you that pulls away from the pack from a long shot and gives you grief.

I played a little bit of the demo on "Grid" which is an arcade'ish sort of racer and the AI didn't seem as cheating to me. It was pretty competive without being outright unfair.

It's true, there's usually one driver on Forza that's faster, but not ridiculously so (and it's usually due to him having a better car).

hahaha, I was hoping you would. Your car always seemed faster to me! Especially when you would pass me doing 160 down a straight away.

It's all about exit speed out of corners. If you can come off a corner, especially one leading to a long straight, at a higher speed, you'll be able to get closer to your maximum than another guy who came off the corner a little slower.

I recently loaded up Test Drive Unlimited again, and they added a hardcore mode *250 MS points iirc* that adds more realistic physics. I was surprised by the number of players on too. You can just join a pack and race around the island, drag race the strip, jump the river on a cycle, go to the diner and make custom challenges, or do someone else's, or race multi-player, or do all the single player races to build up a collection of houses and cars *do this first*, and you can instant challenge any player you run into.

One of the best and most fun races, are when everyone has to use a particular rare car, so that you have to be familiar with the handling characteristics of every car in your collection. Mastery of the stick shift is a must, auto just won't cut it against good racers, or for top scores in the speed trap and top speed challenges.

The best part is the price, it is under $10 used, so you can buy all the car collections, and hardcore mode, for less than the game cost new bitd.

Unless he is cheating AI.

TDU sounds good for the cost.

But how can I keep up my speed when I have to swerve to bump you off the track? :D

Cheating race drivers I can deal with (Skinnee included), but when John Stockton started spontaneously blocking my rim-rockers when I went up by 20 in NBA Jam, it pissed me off to no end.

:Q :brokenheart: Are there even cheats for Forza 2?

Skill hack...maybe quick thumps hack.

And I dunno why Waldo's talking about swerving to knock you off the road, we haven't seen his face in months!! You need to join back in!

chorb was Blortov. But your statement still applies.

And besides, there wasn't much swerving needed to knock me off last week. There was just run into him every race and wreck him so he doesn't have a chance. I seriously think I got wrecked on every single race except like Tsukuba - no exaggeration - last week. :( I'm out for blood this week
