I have an e6400 and 2gb of pc6400 memory that I have been using in the Asrock AGP/PCI-E board...it's done its job for a budget board but it o/c's like crud so I'm ready to move on...I just ordered a 7900GS for $100 (I only game occasionally but I do a ton of video editing) so now I need a mobo...I have 3 large IDE HDDs and a DVD-RW drive and don't want to get rid of them yet so it would be nice to get a mobo with 2 x IDE...any solid options out there? Or would it be much easier to just get a PCI IDE controller and then get my mobo of choice?

Get the IDE card instead, or you'll end up getting a new motherboard based on old technology.

Best thing to do, replace your DVD drive with a SATA drive, and buy and external USB enclosure and make one of your IDE drives external

Get a 650i-based board such as the MSI P6N SLI Platinum. They have two IDE channels, and allow you to OC C2D pretty nicely. (Some have an FSB wall between 375-400FSB though.)

Would an IDE to SATA adapter work in my situation (just so I can keep the drive in the case)? Otherwise, the SATA DVD drive is a good idea...my Pioneer 4x drive still works but it is a 4x burner so it's probably time to move on...plus a cheap pci ide controller is $20 after shipping anyway and it seems people tend to have bad luck with them anyway...

EDIT: So it comes down to this - which is the better route to go:

Gigabyte 965P-S3 ($106)
Liteon 20x SATA DVD burner ($37)
USB enclosure for one IDE drive (I already have an enclosure)
Total: $143

MSI P6N Platinum ($150) or "non-Platinum" ($113)
Keep old 4x DVD burner for now (IDE)

Which of these three choices is the best? I'm not a hardcore overclocker (meaning I'll only go as far as air cooling will take me)...
