Any good "building plan" software that's free?

I'm looking for a program where I can create/select premade pieces of lumber or other fittings, and basically virtually build something. I usually use autocad, but was thinking there must be programs out there that make it even easier for typical stuff like building something with normal sized pieces of lumber.

I have a few projects I want to plan out. No money to make them yet.
