Military History is some of the most fascinating, much better than a lot of other history. 😉

I mean, I'm assuming you mean Classical Rome, because there is more than just the Latin Empire.

And John Gibon sucks. I've known that since I was 12 and read The Art of War in the Medieval Ages.

You didn't specify a genre... Angels and Demons is great if you want to spatter blood all over Rome.

As for Julius.. have you considered reading any Roman Philosphy from the time?
 
Why read philosophy? He cares about history. Although philosophy is good, but it makes me ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.
 
Philosphy is partly what makes history happen, my good sir.
I got no real input on Roman History aside from it's Architecture... if you're into that I could score you some good titles.

Yeah, philosophy influences history, but I'd rather read about how does, rather than reading it, if you take my meaning.
