This unit is not bad except it doesn't have the HDCP. It's a good buy though.

a simple Q. When something like this has HDMI, does that mean the video signal is DVI? I can't watch D sub anymore as it hurts my eyes and gives me a headache.

Yes! HDMI is basically a DVI with audio already integrated. A DVI is a pure video (thus the Digital Video Input/Interface) while a HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Input/Interface) combines both the video and audio and digitally inputted to the display or monitor/TV. In fact, this will probably the future standard interface since it only requires one plug connection to do both the video and audio.
If the interface from your multimedia source (DVD/Projector/TV) only comes in DVI then you will need a DVI->HMDI adapter.

Just recently, I got the SOYO Topaz S 24" monitor (featured richly on another thread). I could not be happier! In my book, SOYO is a good thing. :)

To expect a tuner (QAM or otherwise) for a 32" refurb TV is really pushing it.

Um, TV means tuner. It's not a monitor. And Soyo (the company) sucks balls and should be boycotted forever because of all their past rebate fraud.

Um, no. Just because it's a TV doesn't mean it has to have a tuner. I agree about Soyo 100%, but to expect a tuner at that price range is ridiculous, especially a QAM. (ATSC/NTSC, sure. I've yet to see a decent under $500 LCD TV with a QAM)

You must not check out deals on LCD TV's often then, because 32" LCD's are often on sale around $500, and they all have tuners. Because they're TV's.

Here's an Akai on sale at OD for $500 this week.

I got the Emprex for $400 at Frys on 4th of July, only one HDMI but works great and gets great reception with a $16 ant., you can get a decent 32" new for this price.
