me and my buddy were going to go 50-50 on a ps3, but I was wondering what good games, if any, are there for the ps3...

will get grand theft auto, mgs4, etc...but what about 2 player games?!

We are picking up the MGS4 ps3 package with all of this for 600 bucks :

2nd Dualshock 3 sixaxis controller

Component av cable bundle for hooking it up to a HDtv

HDMI av cable also for HDtv

Gran Turismo 5 prologue

Tony Hawk's Proving Ground

Grand Theft Auto IV Liberty City

I was also wondering how backwards compatible the PS3 is to PS2/Ps1 games...I was told 85%~~ and now the new ps3 consoles, and a lot of the old ones do not even allow for playback of old ps2/ps1 games??

EDIT : I have been out of the console area for about 5 years...

Resistance (Co-op campaign), Warhawk (up to 4 players can play online splitscreen in an online match, as long as it's not in a ranked match).

That's all I can think of...but then again, those are the only games I have that I can think of that are 2-player. Remember, though...Warhawk is an online only game.

I feel so dated having to ask that...damn.

You can get $100 off if you apply for a Sony Credit Card. There's a link on Fatwallet somewhere.

I just bought the same MGS4 PS3 and I would also like to know about good co-op games.

I know tk149...but that is a lot of hassle, and I do not want ANOTHER credit card, haha.

I do not mind used ones at all, as I have not heard any hardware failures.

Army of Two or is that online only co-op?
Randow Six Vegas series
PixelJunk Eden
Warhawk
Soul Calibur IV

There really aren't many single screen co-op titles on either console this generation.

It's pretty decent. I've probably only put four hours or so into co-op, though, only one buddy who's interested.

yeah, marvel and resistance and two good ones. R6V. pixlejunk.
The problem is I game with my GF ( which isn't the problem) and we are always looking for 2 player games, co-op or split screen. And they are becoming SO few and far between. Most games have a hard time rendering the game once, more or less twice. Or if they offer Co-op AT ALL they are over live, or PSN. Which means, damnit, you have to have a second system. And thats just plain expenisve. However, 2 Xbox arcades are now the cost of a PS3.

Hmmm.....

Anyway, if you are looking for co-op games, there are alot of good ps2 games. Plus you are getting the MGS 80GB which still offers most backwards compatability. If you get a non MGS 80, or a 40GB. NO BC whatsoever.

If I was you, I would be looking for an older 60/20. the full BC makes it worth the same as a new one, even though it will be used.

I also want more 2-player co-ops. Maybe we should make some sort of mass petition for more... Lego Star Wars is actually a really good 2-player co-op game. My gf and I have put quite some time into the game. The gameplay is simple enough for her to be comfortable with and the puzzles are challenging enough to keep me interested.

Most sports games are multi-player too. Rockband is another good game you can beat with multiple players.

The MGS ps3 is backwards compatible with all ps2/ps1 games. The new cheaper 400 dollar ps3 is the one that does not support backwards compatibility.
