Any good 2(3) speaker setups?

I'm looking for a good stereo speaker setup. The problem is I don't have the space for a surround system. I play some games, but mostly I want it for listening to music. I intend to spend $50-100.

I got a TerraTec Fire 1024 card that I like because of it's digital output, so I want to keep that one.

Any recommandations?

Boston Accoustics has a great 2.1 called the BA Digital 790s. There are 2 sats and 1 sub. You can connect to them with a single mini-stereo cable, or a PCM Digital stream through an RCA/Coax SPDIF port.
These are about ~$100

They have another set for about $70 that are slightly less powerful and lack the digital input called the BA635.

There is also a nice set by Altec Lansing called the ACS48. They are very powerful, but in my experience AL lack in the midrange which may or may not bother you. Midrange is a strong point in the BA speakers (well actually they just have good flat/neutral sound reproduction, most PC speakers just have very poor midrange).

There's also the Klipsch 2.ls but they are twice your budget.
(Personally I wouldn't buy them anyways...but that's just me).

i can tell you right now what you are going to hear from people, since this is a common topic...

i like my altec lansing acs-48 speakers very much and they are a bit under $100

a good number of people like the altec lansing atp-3 speakers and they are closer to $50

yet another group of people have high opinions of the labtec pulse-424 as a great bank for the buck at $45 or less

others speak highly of boston acoustic speakers (i'm not familiar with them but there's a 3 piece setup in your price range) or they might tell you to spend a bit more and get the ba-4800 (i think) 5 piece and stack the satelites on top of each other (making 1+1 on the right and 1+1 on the left, taking up the same space as a 3 piece setup)

there might be a few other opinions here and there but i think this sums it up...focus on those (since most people have) and you might want to try a search for speaker topics in this forum

edit: darn, noriaki beat me, but he did mention a few of the speakers i mentioned, and i left out the klipsh because of the price

I had these speakers before I bought my PM 4.1s. For the money, you cannot beat this system. It plays a lot louder than you'd think just by looking at it. Also the bass was darn good. The Labtec's have a wooden sub enclosure which helps greatly.

For the price you can't beat the Labtecs. For about twice that amount, you can get the Klipsch 2.1's. They rock and roll. :D

Oh yeah I forgot all about the Pulse-424s. I've never heard them but alot of people seem quite happy with them, and they have a very reasonable price :)

Ive had the Labtec Pulse 424's for about 3 weeks now and am still amazed by the sound. Bought them at BB for 25 + 8 for 2 yr warranty (with a $25 gift card, so this really wasn't a hot deal). With the warranty, you can blow the speakers and theyll give you a brand new pair AND give you the warranty purchase price back. In my case, Ill get the new speakers and the 8 dollars I paid for the warranty. Awesome value for the price.

I've got the Monsoon MM-700's, and I love them. I purchased them from Buy.com and used a coupon and got them for under $100. Good sounds and they take up a small amount of desktop space.;)

I also heard good things about the Labtec 424 Pulse but I don't think they're digital. Boston Acoustics are
