just got my slot a TB900 today. it works fine 119x9 @1071, default 1.75vcore.
looking for goldfinger that has 12x multiplier to get it over 1.2G.
can i modified the bridge on the core like the socketa TB??
any links or ideas?

looks like no goldfinger has 12x multiplier.
any ideas if i modify the bridges on the core, what are my chances?
any opinions are welcome, anyway i will wait a few days for all the cooling stuff i need before i start this crazy surgery.

You are better off using a high FSB if your system can handle it (at 120 mhz my USB and PCI are not happy). If you can use 119, just do 10 x 119 = 1190 or 10.5 x 114 = 1197. Although if you don't have quality sdram and aren't running at FSB+PCI mhz memory clock it won't help a bit.

i still have to get a goldfinger to make 10x or 10.5x to setup this way.
personally i like to stay with 100fsb and change the multiplier. less headache.
since i don't have any goldfinger now, i just do the fsb o/c to test how high i can get.
and the goldfinger will cost me extra $30+shipping+TAX. which does not support 12x.

well if you're overclocking, you might as well get the best performance, which would be from the FSB. I got my GFD off the forum here, $12 shipped, pretty bare bones. 6 dips, no external power source, 4 multiplier switches, 2 voltage. Goes up to 10.5 I'm sure, don't know over that.

just open the cover of my slota TB900 today, i was suprised that the cpu inside is not the same package like the socket type, no bridges on the top. and the top left was mark 850, but on the center (the dark green core) was mark as the following:

A100CMRHFA
91739040233
0030GPBW
on the black cover marked as this:
AMD-A0900MMR24B
710035028824
made in singapore
is this a 850 core, or 1G core???

i found out the modification is the same as athlon classic, tried 10.5x setting, no boot.
saw some post saying that most of the slota m/b doesn't work with 10.5x. the only option left is 10x.

here is my setup now:
Asus K7M with beta bios km132.
AMD slota TB900, 10x115=1150Mhz.
default vcore 1.75.
NEC 128M/PC133.
ALPHA 7125 HSF.
ENERMAX 450W power supply.
MATROX G400 videocard.
CREATIVE soundblaster PCI128.

it will work even @119fsb, don't know why no boot @120fsb even at higer voltage.
i am thinking if peltier+watercooling can help to break the 1.2G.
what cause no boot at 120 fsb?
any help.

At that speed your PCI is 120 / 3 = 40 and AGP is at 120 * 2 /3 = 80. Those are out of spec, 7 mhz and 14 mhz respectively. That and the chipsets are very unstable at higher FSB compared to the BX chipset. You won't see high FSB very often, which is why the multiplier becomes so important.

I think the only chipset that is rock stable with Slot A Tbirds is the AMD Irongate ones like the K7M. Via's chips are not as stable, and even though boards like Abit have push and pull in the bios, its not a good solution. I've read Tbirds under 750 mhz are stable on Via chipsets, but anything over are not.
