Hey I was wondering if anyone else (I am 20 btw) grew up with GI Joe and it still tugs at my heart strings when I look at these toys online (a good site is yojoe.com). Anyway I was thinking that the generations coming up never really had good toys (this pokemon and power rangers stuff took no effort to think up) and I was giving some thought to this. I enjoy playing Counterstrike and was wondering if it could ever be remade with GI Joe and Cobra. I think it would be fun with a Metal Gear Solid reality level (hiding in ceilings, vents, etc).

In addition, I always wanted to combine a first person shooter (like the game above) with a persistant state world. As you play the game and take on missions, things change for both organizations and you have a character. Just wanted to voice my opinion since I enjoyed them so much when I was younger and felt it would make a good game.

G.I.Joe was great! Too bad no one ever shot anyone else, though. The vehicles and the grounds around the people always got decemated, but no one ever got hit. Oh well. I guess it was better that they didn't for kids that age anyway.

Why was the mod for HL canceled? Anyone know?

Werd!
GI Joes ruled.

It's been at least 8-10 years since I played with them, but they were sweet.

Gi Joe rocks and I was the only one to mention the villans from GI Joe in this thread!, with links to the very site you mentioned above!

I am now 25 and when I was young GI Joe was all there was, at least to me and my friends, I remember asking everyday for almost a year for my parents to get me the aircraft carrier.

BTW: I still have This Figure mint on card, I bought two when I was a youngen and had my father put it away for me and now it hangs on the wall above my monitor!

YES!!!

27 years old now....Star Wars figures in early elementary...gave way to GI Joe & Transformers (Gobots also had a brief lifespan before Transformers really took off) in later elementary years.

Ahhh...the best times in man's life!!! :)

I so wanted that aircraft carrier!!! My parents kept telling me we had no room for it. They got me the F-16 (F-15)? instead, which was just as well because my friend got the aircraft carrier and I would go to his house with my F-16 and we would play. :) I wish I still had that thing, the wings would sweep back, and they ejection seat had a parachute on it.

Speaking of the aircraft carrier, we (my brother and myself) had that big clunker. Once you set that up you didn't dare move it. My fav hands down was the mobile space center (the name escapes me at the moment). I played a great game called Red Faction on the Playstation2 (from Volition they make GREAT games) and it was really unique cuz you were able to use vehicles (like a jeep with mounted gun and a mining vehicle). That really was what made me think about a GI Joe first person game(in addition to the mercenaries at the end of the game really looking like Cobra forces)

Maybe if we bug the Counterstrike team... :D

Nice pic ISAslot!

My favorite aspect of GI Joe was the flying jeeps, tanks, etc....I got into model rockets shortly after GIJoe. I started duct-taping rocket engines to anything I could & lighting them off with cannon fuses. Those were the days...until my mom found my troop transport with about 8 rocket engines strapped on it. That was the end of my model rocket hobby, and the end of my GI Joes. :(

Are you guys talking about the small figures???

My GI Joes from the mid 1970's were the larger figures. I even had the GI JOE with the KUNG FU GRIP . I still have some of that stuff in my parents basement. Those were some toys.

Haha, GI Joe was the shiet! Those things were awesome. It always frustrated me how the thumbs and the crotch plates broke off. The vehicles were the best, the Jeep was my favorite!

GI Joe kicked butt. Loved Snake Eyes and all the mysteriousness surrounding him. I'm 20 so I'm talking about the little action figures now.

Fox is bringing back Transformers this fall. Porting over a Japanese version currently running. Autobots based on cars and Decepticons based on animals. Sort of like a mixture between the original and Beast Wars. Prime is now also a Firetruck...

G.I. Joe, TMNT, He-Man, Transformers, Tranzor-Z, Thundercats, Voltron, and X-Men.

MEMORIESSSSSSSSSSSSS. They sure as HELL don't make cartoons like they used to.

I watched G.I. Joe every morning before school for 2 years. It gave me something to look forward to when I woke up.
