im a contractor also, but we are open for business. im taking a half day to hang with my kids, but im salary (industrial programmer ftw! not like the electricians i work with who lose time if they take the day off) so i dont have to worry about time lost.

Not only do I get it off, but since it is on my regularly scheduled Friday off, I also get a day in lieu to use at some other point :thumbsup: The government people around here also get Monday off.

Everyone else in our company used to (We got Mardi Gras off), but now it's a floater.

3 options here for us:

1. Paid holiday on Friday
2. Paid holiday on Monday
3. Work both days and acquire an extra paid vacation/personal day

With the weather cooling down, I'll likely go for option 3 and take a Friday off sometime in the summer when I've had a bad week.
