imho, no one chooses to be gay. they are just born that way.
I happen to know that people are not born that way... it is a choice.

Are drug addicts born that way? No. It starts out as something VERY small, that grows into something out of control... until...

They are parrelleled in a sense.

Yeah in the same sense that you parallel a free thinking rational being. So basically not at all.

I think gays parallel the religious. Their habits serve no real purpose and i totally dont understand them, but as long as they dont go out of their way to bother me i could give a flying fvck what they do on their own time.

Habits?

Anyhoo, I'm not used to being around gays that are uncomfortable in their daily work lives, but maybe that's just my experience.

How would you know, if they are uncomfortable to the extent that they are afraid to say that they are gay?

Too true. I guess it has to do with all of my professional jobs involving at least one gay in the workplace. (My immediate workplace, mind you) I'm assuming then, that with the very open gays around, there wouldn't be any in the closet.

Plus, being the son of a lesbian...I figure that my gaydar is pretty well-tuned ;)

Poor assumption that because some gays are out, most/all are.... definitely not the case in any instance I've observed.

Also... many gay men have been surprised/shocked/repulsed when they discover their gaydar has failed them, and that I'm gay. ;)

Yeah, that's what I meant. It is a poor blanket assumption concerning all work environments, but in my work experience (not a typical cubicled, gayness-could-effect-your-professional-life environment) I can assure you that gays are open. Of course, I can't assume how easy it is for them, or any other gay person in other work environments to deal with the situation. I will never have to deal with that...so I'm not commenting on how someone deals with these issues, or how tough they may be or how uncomfotable it is. All I can comment on is the external appearances that I observe.

If they could turn it on/off with a switch, I would imagine many would.

I mean.... how pleasant could ripping your anus apart really be?? :)

thelaughbutton.com featured a comedy skit of the "first" two gay men in America, set in the 1950's. (We all know that was far from first.)

In short:
Man1: We have sports on TV, we have snacks, we have beer... all we need now is SEX with women!
Man2: Me too! I love sex!
Man1: But women bug me...
Man2: I find them repulsive, but I love sex!
Man1: Well why don't we have sex?
Man2: Great! Where are the women?
Man1: That's the beauty of it! No women! Just you and me!
Man2: Great! Do you have a vagina?
Man1: No... do you?
Man2: No. [bends to pick something up]
Man1: What's that...
Man2: Oh this? This is my arse!
Man1: I got a crazy idea... bring that over here - lemme' try something.
Man2: Okay! Here's my arse!
Man1: [click] Hmm.... not bad...
Man2: OH SWEET MOTHER O PEARL!!! THE PAIN!!! LET THIS NIGHTMARE END!!! AAAUGHHH!!!!!!!!!
Man1: I like it.

That's because the Catholic church has a very light stance on homosexuality - especially with the "staff" and their veiled celibacy. There's a lot of man-love happening behind the curtains there... celibacy is not demanded by the Bible - it's a Catholic invention just like Purgatory and Immortal Soul.

um, being fvcked up the ass can be intensely pleasureable. or painful, depending on the skill of your partner. and whether or not you are using lube. common-sense tells us the numer of heterosexual couples who have anal sex far outweighs the number of gay male couples. Maybe you should ask those hundreds of millions of women if they are walking around with "ripped apart" anuses. get a clue. it's also idiotic to reduce gay sex to anal sex. there are 1001 things you can do with a sex partner that don't involve penetrative sex. I weep for your sexual partners.

no "real purpose" according to who? I could say the same thing about your relationships - they don't serve any purpose that benefits me, does that make them purposeless?

um, being fvcked up the [sni] I weep for your sexual partners.

As much fun as this topic may be, you missed the joke in the smiley.
And, yes, there's lots of heteros with a wire loose somewhere and enjoy the extreme pain of anal sex (I've known some who love pain in that way - you know, the wierd "riding crop" people.)

And that's partner. Singular. We're good, thanks. ;)
