Any gamecube fans here?

I just picked up another gamecube for $40 shipped which I couldn't turn down since it came with everything I needed to play including RE Zero and 1. Either way I owned one a couple years ago. I bought it to play Zelda Windwaker which I have a urge to play again. Also in that time I played Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion, Metroid Prime and Resident Evil 4. I enjoyed all of them but I could not play Metroid Prime. I don't know if it was the textures or what but that game made me dizzy and sick which forced me to quite. I hated that because what little I played I enjoyed it.

Well with that out of the way I was wondering is there any other games I missed out on then and now?

BTW main reason I bought another is the new Zelda is on it's way and it will be cheaper to play it on GC then buying Wii.

If you like crazy arcade shooters, try to find Ikaruga.
Pikmin 2 is a blast, also.

Well, I think you would be missing out on quite a bit if you passed up the Wii version of Twilight Princess. Besides, it can play Gamecube games too (I'm pretty sure you already know that). You also get more features for the money so...yeah.

viewtiful joe, eternal darkness, smash bros., monkey ball... there are a lot of fun games for the system

What would I be missing out on? They look identical graphics wise. Only thing I can think of is being able to use Wii's unique controls. Which IMO I don't thinks for me. I don't know if I could get into the having to swing the Wii remote everytime I what to kill something. Either way Wii will likely cost me over $300 for the system,game,extras,ect. Gamecube will cost me $100 or less.

Not to mention Wii will likely sell out first day or two with the holiday season and I don't like launch systems because of the high risk of defects/bugs. Of course if I was gonna buy a launch system it would be a Nintendo.

Well...multiplayer, for one (although it doesn't *officially* come out until 2007) And all the other capabilities that the GameCube doesn't have.

EDIT: Oh, my bad. I said you would be missing out on the Wii version of Twilight Princess. Well, I stand corrected then. Noticed that I talked about the Wii versionf of Twilight Princess and then I just jumped to the features of the Wii.

Last I knew, Zelda for Wii wasn't going to work that way, the remote would be used primarily for projectile weapons (such as the bow/hookshot/boomerang) - the sword would still be depending on the joystick and button smashing and a few other things such as shield smashing...

Whatever floats your boat I guess.

After playing Fire Emblem on GBA I wanna get a Gamecube. But since they will be continuing the series on Wii which I believe is backwards compatible w/ GC I think Wii is the way to go for me. Too bad the Shining Force series has been abominated, but Fire Emblem seems like such a strong contender.

to mugs- if you have an interest in other strat rps's like Fire Emblem by all means get a Sega Saturn and Shining Force 3. It was so good, it was the first game to make me buy an import adapter to play the other Shining Force saturn games (released only in Japan unfortunately).

super smash bros melee, soul calibur 2 (LINK IS IN IT!!!), f-zero gx, mario party, metal gear solid - the twin snakes, paper mario, etc.

I picked up the GC, along with 3 RE games and Metroid. Didn't really like any of them, guess I'm not a survival-horror or console-shooter fan. But I love the multiplayer games - Mario Party, Smash Bros, Mario Kart. Also enjoying their limited selection of RPGs (Paper Mario and Windwaker so far).

Looks like thay changed the controls. The fishing mini game sounds great with the controls but right now I just want to play the game the cheapest way possible. Doesn't matter I'll be ready to replay it by the time I buy a Wii. Which will likely be when the price drops to $199 and matures some. Well that and I get a HDTV .

That's an awesome deal. I recently saw Fire Emblem for $35 used at EB Games.

And yeah, the sword swinging will be controlled by moving the controller in the new Zelda. A lot of people are pissed because they made Link right-handed when they made that change (since most people are right-handed).

I hope they make the controls configurable in case some people get tired of waving the remote around to swing the sword... or even allow the use of a GameCube controller as well.

I am sure that option is there for their sake. After a while your wrist will start hurting even if all your doing is flicking the remote. I am looking forward to playing the Wii because it's controls but probably not this year or next unless I try it out in the store which I don't see how they would set it up.

Melee is THE reason to own a Gamecube. The other good games such as Zelda, Mario, ect... are all just bonuses.

Fire Emblem is godlike. Oh and give metroid prime another shot. The reason you are feeling disoriented is actually the control scheme, it takes a lot of work to get used to but once you do you will settle right into it. Honestly.
