My company has an office in DC and they're sending me there for the week (Mon-Fri at least) to help out with a big project. Now i've been to DC 3 or 4 times and have seen all the monuments, museums and all the touristy stuff. I'm wondering if there are any nice restaurants, bars and/or clubs in the DC area that might be worth visiting (particularly the bars/clubs). Does anyone have any suggestions?

If you're willing to go over Baltimore-ish, there's a joint called the Recher Theater. That's the only "nightlife" spot in the entire Baltimore/DC area that I'm aware of. Except the strip clubs.

ha ha.. man that's sad. the strip clubs sound tempting but I can't believe there aren't any nice bars/dives around there. Doesn't DC have a couple colleges in the city?

1720 Club on H St :D

And yes, you can go down to the Georgetown area - IIRC there is always something to do down there.

Just loiter around Pennsylvania Ave. in a long, bulky trenchcoat with sunglasses.

You'll have a LOT of fun!

And throw your briefcase as far as you can over the fence, drop to the ground and cover your head, then get back up, shrug, and walk away.

Now you're talkin' fun!

Anyway...back to the topic. You should hit the Smithsonian. I've always wanted to go there. I don't know what the hours of operation are and if you'd have a chance to go.

been there plenty of times. air and space, natural history, and american history. I've hit up just about every museum there is to see there. I'm just looking for a cool place to grab a beer and pretend I have macking skills.

The Brickskellar in the dupont area....

Text

or

Just go down to the Adams Morgan Area.... start at Madam's Organ work your way up and down the street... get hammered and then eat the floppy greasy pizza... you'll know it when you see it.

or

Head to old town Alexandria... start at the torpedo factory there are all kinds of nice river front resteraunts there very worth seeing.

or

if you're looking for a purely resteraunt atmosphere... check out this resteraunt if you get enough people together say 15 or so... grab the Pope room... you wont be dissapointed...

if you need more lemme know... I was born and raised in the DC area... went to college in the DC area, and currently live and work in the dc area.
