My father-in-law's hard drive apparently took a dump. His machine will not boot into Windows-- instead he gets an error message stating there was a problem with with
"C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\HAL.DLL".
When I tried to poke around the drive after connecting as a second drive to my PC, it claims to not see the NTFS partition there. I downloaded a demo partition recovery manager that saw the partition and the files therein.
Does anyone, though, know of a freeware partition recovery manager?
