My comp's taking longer and longer to boot up. Is there any free utility for windows xp that will allow me to control which programs run at startup? I took a quick glance thru the sticky thread but didnt see what Im looking for (or maybe i didnt look hard enough)

TIA

I was wondering what I was missing. That's the method I've always used :^)

This is correct but many malwares can (and do) disable msconfig. Startup control panel seems to cover more areas of the registry, is disabled less often, and everything can be unchecked without guaranteeing (still possible) a blue screen.

Autoruns is very powerful and should be used to uncheck startups only after careful research as it includes necessary system files (explore or logon as examples) along with removable items.
