Any free programs that combine video files and or break them into smaller files?

Hopefully everything, avi, mp3, mpg, wmv, etc..
I have a copy of kill bill, but it is too large to burn to a video disc, not a DVD, but a regular CD, so if I could divide it into 2 parts that woudl be great.

Movie maker (free with XP) does combine avi, wmv and maybe more into one file. Not sure if it will break them up.

There is something exactly like that, but I can't think of it's name right now. The program I'm thinking about is commonly used by Newsgroup Uploaders. Yenc might work, but I think the only way to view the file(s) would be to rejoin them on the hard drive first.
