Windows Media Player is free and very sleek...If you have windows xp or vista installed.

VLC is great for many things, this includes quality DVD playback.

Every video card Ive purchased has come with a DvD Player (among other applications). Check the software that came with your video card to see if it includes a player & utilities.

Also, I was able to buy Power DvD 7 (old version but new retail disk) for only $7 (available from several outlets). It is really worth it.

I use VLC for everything video. I'm happy to be rid of PowerDVD, and WinDVD forever :^)

K-lite codec pack with Media Player Classic works too.

codec packs are not legal option because DVD codec from cyberlink costs $.
