Last week when I closed the drivers door on our 95 Windstar I heard something fall. I opened the door and looked inside the car and saw nothing that could have made the noise so I knew that it was likely something inside the door. I commented to my wife then that that did not sound good and figured that sooner or later something would not work correctly. The next day we found what no longer worked correctly when she drove it to work. She lowered the window and when she went to raise it it acted pretty funny but she was able to finally get it raised. When I removed the door panel today I discovered that the rear inside channel that the window runs in inside the door was laying on the bottom of the door opening. The 2 spot welds that hold it to the bracket that is bolted to the door let go and there appears to be no way to re-attach it so I assumed I need to get a new part.
I consulted Ford's online parts catalogue and found the exact part I need but it is not for sale. Does this mean that if I go to the dealer they will not be able to get me one or that Ford does not make these or is it likely it is just the online catalogue that does not stock it? I would assume the online catalogue is accessing the same database that the dealer would if they needed to order it so I am now somewhat concerned that I will not be able to get this piece unless I start running around to junk yards looking to find Windstar without a smashed up drivers door.
