You're going to spend a good bit of $$ finding a passively cooled i3 or i5 machine.

not really... fanless small "htcp"-like machines with VESA mount are popular, prices are going down.

there are obviously going to be some shortcomings for these things, and dongles you need to convert b/w (mini) Displayport/HDMI and your displays

Akasa Newton V, ~$100 case only, compatible with the $410 Intel NUC mobo

Tranquil PC Abel H2-5 NUC ($1k whole unit with i5?)

definitely pricier than your typical build, but not that bad

(typical build of case+cpu+mobo would be $60+$200+$100 = $360)

Askasa + cpu + mobo = $510, plus premium parts (sodimm, 2.5" ssd)

From some quick searches I did, it looks like no one is doing any of the haswell i3's ye (i5 is right out then). I saw a ready made package with one of the older i3's, a BIS-6763.

However I think if you went with a 120mm fan you could easily achieve an inaudible active cooling solution.

OK so they are not popular yet, I am just looking for a simple PC (not a laptop) to power 2 monitors so I can read the forums and monitoring the currency trading. I am on off grid solar now, so I want something like Haswell processor or something use less power, the least is better but I want the GPU intel HD4000 or better yet I don't want any dedicated video card.

Any small simple desktop or mini case PC fit my need? I can't be bother to buy parts and fit it up. used to do it but getting very lazy.

Thanks

Any reason you are looking for a specific GPU/igp level? Hardware acceleration for your trading program?

Dual displays hardly need any powerful igp.

The tranquil I listed can be bought prebuilt and uses 26watts at load. Hard to get better than that

If you are off the grid then you most certainly want a laptop, get one with one of those ULV processors.

Asus Chromebox is what you want, OP.

Or

If you need Windows and don't mind some assembly, a Gigabyte Brix model.

Thank you guys, I don't think the Pentium and Celeron have hd4000 or better, they usually just have the crappy HD chip which has problem to run HD videos and some time I want to play 2 videos at once. Laptops are out, they can't power 2 monitors, only one external one with it's own display, and I have a lot of laptops, like 7 of them but no desktop as the only one died on me.

I don't want a big tower as it draw too much power and the dedicated video card too. so I only looking for a desktop may be consume less than 100 watts when it do regular run and have enough graphic power to power 2 monitor to play 2 HD video occasionally.

Thanks again

I don't much care for that processor; best buy has a dell with G3220 which is a better deal (I think):
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/dell-ins...&skuId=2999138

However - neither of these is fanless.... (The g3220 is about the speed of a mobile I3 for 1/2 the price but I think it is hd3000 even though it is a haswel core).
It say Intel HD graphic, so I think it is one of those crappy chip less thank HD2000, I could be wrong but won't take the chance.

Thank you

No, not really, I have some HD 1080p video which can't play smoothly with Intel HD Graphic. It play ok with one of the Intel HD3000 chip. so I want to get Hd4000 or better to make sure it play the files smoothly.

Thank you.
