Any experiences with Voicestream Wireless?

Does anyone have any stories (good or bad) about Voicestream wireless? I'm considering switching to them so I can get on a GSM network, and I don't know much about them. The rep I talked to at our local store was absolutely worthless (even went as far as to say "if you get a phone here I don't know if it will work anywhere...sometimes stuff doesn't work, I don't know why") This did not instill me with much confidence. I am sketchy about switching if the service/availability is going to be poor, so I am looking for anyone with experience for some advice! Thanks!
