& I'm in the market for a tidy 90 series 🙂

My folks have one that's not missed a beat, currently around 275,000 kms, and my bro has one around 240,000kms, again that's been flawless in the last 40,000 kms he's owned it.

Interested in your experiences (primarily), thoughts etc on this motor 🙂

I understand you got a TRD supercharged version that gave you 190kW (up from the stock 142kW iirc)?

I have driven a few with the 3.0 litre (1KZ-TE) and was brutally unimpressed with the lack of oomph & get-up-&-go driving the petrol/diesel back to back....

I had a 5VZ in my '98 Tacoma. When it went back to Toyota (frame rust warranty), it had 198k and still purred like a kitten.

Miles I assume? Awesome if so 🙂

I'm always amazed as to how creamy smooth it is when revved, it almost sounds smoother and happier above 5k, which is always strange in a relatively big boofy 4WD motor...

3.4L is big?

Anyway, by all accounts the 5VZ is as bulletproof as they come in terms of reliability. Folks I have spoken to with the supercharged version say it's very responsive. FWIW, most of the feedback I've heard has been Tacoma based, not Land Cruiser.

Yep. Then the frame rusted out and Toyota bought her back at a hefty premium. I bought a Tundra..and now I want a Tacoma again. 🙁
