Any experience with returning items to Newegg?

My brother, being the dumbass that he is, accidentally bought the wrong motherboard. Is it possible to get the Newegg CS team to take it back (he's fine with a restocking fee)?

If so, what should he say? Everything is there, all cables in sealed bags, everything works fine, etc.

you can do it automated online from the website, 15% restocking fee plus shipping back.

i've had to RMA a few things, they are very good about it and seldom even ask questions.

Warning: You are requesting an online RMA for REFUND. All online RMAs are automated and Refund RMAs are charged a restocking fee. If this does not meet your needs, please contact our customer service department.

If you call newegg (Toll Free: (800) 390-1119), explain the reason for the return, and politely ask them to waive the restock fee.....99% of the time they will. Please be polite!

Yup, that's my experience too...a little polite whining goes a long way...

May not go that route. In Canada the motherboard my brother bought commands a premium... so even if he sold it at 75% of its price here he'd still make a profit.

What'd he do, have it delivered to a US address and then bring it into Canada? If there was some other way, I'd love to hear about it. I've often wished Newegg would ship to Canada!

(oh, and sorry for hijacking 😱)

Yes, as a matter of fact, I do have experience RMAing to Newegg; recent experience. Like just last week! Really. 🙂

I made the mistake of purchasing a LiteOn 851 DVD burner...well known amongst the enthusiast community as a "DUD."

Oh well...life's a bitch and then you knock one up and marry her, right? Anyway, time to return it.

Applied/Registered online for a RMA #. Got the number.

Explained on the RMA form that the drive was defective; blah-blah-blah reasons, etc. ALSO stating that b/c I felt the drive was defective that I should not be charged the 15% restock fee.

Got an email from them the next day stating all was well and to ship the drive, AND the fee would be waived.

I shipped the drive. (fast forward three days) They get the drive.

Next day they refund my money...minus 15%. :Q Shoot off an email, attaching previous email from them stating they'd waive the fee.

Got a response from them w/i 12 hours stating "Oops, our bad...here's your additional 15%...sorry about that."

I have no problem w/this at all! 🙂 Newegg does HOW MANY hundreds of transactions per day? 😕 They fixed everything promptly.

I've returned stuff in the past to them (only b/c it was broken right off the bat) and have never had a problem.

That is one of the reasons why they still get my money. 🙂

Newegg rocks.
