Any experience with Leadtek?

I know they used to be very, very good and overengineered the cooling on their cards in the past. I noticed the 'egg has a Leadtek 8800 GTS 640M for $335 AR. That's a great deal if Leadtek is still on top of their game.

Opinions, anyone?

They are very good. Create brilliant cooling solutions. Bear in mind their parent company is Foxconn (and if you know anything about consumer electronics I don't need to tell you just how large and successful Foxconn is).

I had a few Leadtek cards myself. 3 7900GTX's. One was a bad batch, started artifacting and exchanged it. Process went nice and smooth, recommended.
Compared with other vendors, on my Leadtek 7900GTXs', I never noticed the excess of thermal goop so common these days, another plus.

I don't know about their newer product offerings. If they maintained that same standard of quality, Leadtek is highly recommended.

My AGP 6800nu was a Leadtek card. It actually came with all the pipes unlocked, though the core wouldn't OC very much past stock at all.

My first Leadtek was a 6600GT - a very good reliable card, good quiet fan, and cheap. My second card was a 7900GS - unfortunately that started artifacting so i exchanged it (via the seller), although I put that down to the 7900's typical memory problem. Anyway, with the replacement card It follows the trend of having a quiet fan again. One thing I note about Leadtek cards is that they always have good software bundles, that with the quiet fans, and usually cheaper prices makes me tend to choose leadtek.

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like they're still going good and strong. Gstanfor, I didn't know they were a Foxconn subsidiary, good to hear they aren't likely to disappear overnight.

Just waiting until the 4th to see what ATI has in store, then it's time to get one in my machine.

You don't remember the rumor that Leadtek was pulling out of the market, when in fact Foxconn was entering under their own name and also manufacturing ATi cards -- something Leadtek didn't want to do.

That's precisely the rumor I remembered. Something about pulling out of the US market. Was wondering if they were teetering on the brink and starting down the cost cutting implosion spiral.

I remember the Soyo big-rebates-because-we're-dying last days, would rather not get caught by that.

Their cards are very good, I've had 2 Leadtek Geforce 2 Pros and one 6800GT. However, their customer service isn't that great. If you need to RMA your card with them, be prepared to send a lot of emails and wait a long time.

my 6800nu is a leadtek. it unlocked to full pixel and vertex pipelines (16/6) and the cooler is pretty nice :) I don't have any experience with their customer service so I cant comment on that

oh and my brother has a 7300gt that is a leadtek also. again, it has a nice cooler compared to the stock 7300gt cooler

RMAs are a biatch. The RMA department is one guy, his name is like John Chang or something, and he does not speak English very well.

When I sent a 6800GT in last year, it took three months and two letters from a lawyer to get a working card.

Never again. If I want a good cooler, I'll go eVGA with their ACS3 cooler or an aftermarket one, both of which they will warranty.

Just one now? I was emailing a Carmen Ervins for almost 4 months. It took a threat to report then to the BBB to get me a new card.
