Any experience with Connect3D Video cards?

I am looking at possibly purchasing this version of the 9600 pro, selling at an amazingly low $140 shipped for bare 9600 pro card.

The one review I saw for it, at themodfathers.com, seems great, but dates from last year. A lot can change about hardware over a year.

I was wondering if anybody had any recent ecxperience with this brand or specific card.
Could they be selling some kind of "lite" or EZ card here?

Thanks,

Dan

I've been thinking the same thing too, I've seen some new names such as Connect3D and Transcend ATI. With Tyan's 9600Pro being a load of crap using already o/c'd 3.6 Hynix Chips it looks I'll be looking at a different card.

I use a Connect3D Radeon 9800 pro. So far so good. This card is not a lite version or anything. In fact, this card is 'built in association with ATI'.
However, it does have a dark side. I have heard that you get minimal extra software with the card. I got my one with my PC, but this will be of concern if you buy the card alone. Also, it's not the best looking card, if modding is your scene.

Yep Connect3D is one of the close partners for ATi cards in Europe,so that`s why you`ll find lots of their cards in Europe,as to the quality they are excellent and wouldn`t be a partner for ATi products if they was not ,all the reviews I`ve seen have been excellent.

Connect3D USA homepage.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
I was planning to buy the bare card for the price. What sort of software would you normally get that I can't download off the ATI site? Wouldn't the Catalyst drivers support all the features of the card?

I am looking at Connect3D 9500 card at newegg here and thinking this the one that can be moded to 9700 level (red board, L-shaped memory...)

Anyone has any experience with this? Input on moding possibilities?

If you want some in-depth info on Connect3D cards go HERE. They cover the whole gammit from 9200 - 9800. As I recall, they speak well of the 9600 Pro.

Yeah, Digit-Life reviewed them. They don't seem to have impressive signal (2D) quality.

Dan, the only software you may need is a DVD player. ATi's drivers will let you do everything but play DVDs.

Edit: I don't see a $140 9600P on that site. A 9600, yes, but not a Pro.
